MRS. PURUSHA JONES-SHEARIN
CO-FOUNDER
Be true to yourself and love "YOU" fiercely. - Mrs. Purusha
Mrs. Purusha Jones-Shearin is an Entrepreneur, Wife, Sister, Pageant Director, and Model. Mrs. Purusha is passionate about helping others and giving back to the community when she can. Her desire in life is to be an encouragement to those she meets by showing love, empathy, and compassion in various ways. Her life lessons brought her to a point in her life, where the need and want to empower others led her on the path to pageantry. She learned to overcome many obstacles through the years. With those life lessons, she applies her knowledge to her everyday life and the amazing people she comes in contact with.
Mrs. Purusha is originally from Paterson, NJ and made a new home in North Carolina in 1995. Where she attended and graduated with a Bachelor's in Business Administration from St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, NC. During her time at "St. Aug", she began modeling with Nubiance Modeling Troupe, where she learned grace and confidence on the runway. Through her years of attendance she had several leadership roles, which allowed her to empower and coach a variety of fellow students, by assisting and instilling self-confidence and elegance on the runway.
As a natural leader, she has received the ACHI Magazine Award - Woman of Influence / St. Augustine's University 45 under 45 Alumni Award / Beauty and Barber’s Plus Model of the Year Award / Divas on Fire Model of the Year and Women That Care Community Leader Award. She is currently a proud resident of Durham, NC aka "THE BULL CITY" / City of Medicine.
After graduating, she continued her modeling as a hobby and began seeking new opportunities to enhance her confidence on the runway. In 2012, she came across the Ms. Full-Figured USA, LLC National Pageant in Newark, NJ. Intrigued, she pursed the chance to compete in the pageant. Though she did not win a title, she had such an amazing experience and knew this was an opportunity she felt was needed in North Carolina. After having a conversation with the CEO and Founder Theresa Randolph about expanding the brand, she co-founded and created the Ms. Full-Figured NC Pageant in 2015. Then in 2017, as the brand further expanded from state to state, she was promoted to the Head of Directors. Her simple inquiry helped pave the way for over 10 states to develop and establish a pageant division. In 2018, she became the Director for two additional divisions - Ms. Full-Figured SC and VA. Her love of pageantry continues to grow and develop. It is her mission to instill in everyone she meets the importance of self-love, confidence, elegance, and authenticity, as well as giving back to the community through volunteerism and selflessness. Within her efforts, she has donated to several organizations and volunteered in various capacities with the Durham Rescue Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Susan G. Komen, Diabetes, Color Run and MS Walks, Southern Women's Show and the Sister Summit. She believes that, "Anyone can be a Beauty Queen, but giving back is PRICELESS.”
As an entrepreneur, she has a pending 501c3 the Purusha Jones Foundation, which is centered around empowering young teen girls and providing a financial scholarship for young ladies heading to college. Though not fully completed she is determined to make it a reality in the near future. In addition, she is the Founder of Curves Unlimited, which is a group of models that showcase various designers clothing and accessories at different events, including the Southern Women's Show annually. She is also the founder of Essence Soul Creations, a jewelry business she started in 2014. She id also the Founder of Miss NC Royal Teen Pageant founded in 2020.
Mrs. Purusha is truly passionate about touching the lives of women everywhere. She works consistently to better herself so that she can be an empowering force for all women in her life. Her favorite self-written motto is: "You never have to wonder what people see, because "YOU" shines through and no one can deny true self". She believes being your authentic self will take your further in life verses being what everyone else wants you to be.

A word from the Director:
Welcome Queens!
I want to first thank you for your interest in the Ms. Full-Figured NC Pageant. Are you ready for an amazing journey??? I am going to share a story with you on my pageant experience and things to consider when you decide to join the pageant journey. I remember when I competed in 2013 for the Ms. Full-Figured USA Pageant, the experience was quite different. At the time, anyone from all over the United States could compete in the pageant, since we didn't have different divisions then. I let my confidence be my guide, back and forth to New Jersey, which is where the pageant was held. Fortunately I am originally from New Jersey and my mom still lived there, so the traveling wasn't bad. It always gave me an opportunity to spend time with her. Nonetheless, I remember thinking WOW what an amazing opportunity. The whole experience was new, exciting, and mesmerizing. Naturally I was determined to "WIN". I had been on stage for runway and had no pageantry experience. But you couldn't tell me anything. My confidence was high and I was on cloud 9. I just knew I would place or at least get Ms. Congeniality. Well I was wrong, lol. What I learned through that experience is that, I was so busy thinking I had it in the bag that I never thought about my why. Why did I want to be a part of pageant and what difference would I make in the lives of others. I will say this, of course the objective is to "WIN". However, if you come in thinking you are "going" to win, you may lose sight of what the whole experience is all about.
After reflecting on everything, I realized that I didn't know anything, but I truly had such an amazing experience and met some of the most fabulous women. For me, that was truly worth more than the actual win. With that said I encourage you to remember your why. But also come in the pageant experience open-minded, coachable, and ready dig deeper into who you are as an individual. Consider these questions: Why am I interested in the pageant? What kind of difference will I be able to make in the lives of others? Who will I inspire? Will I be a mean girl or will I be someone that others can lean on? Am I mentally prepared for a new and exciting journey? What will my platform be or what topics are near and dear to my heart, that I want people know about? I'm sure there are more questions to ask yourself, these are merely things I wish I would have thought of before I competed. I share these thoughts with you to encourage you to think outside the box and embrace the journey ahead.
In addition, be ready to meet like minded, interesting, funny, loving, and amazing: students, cashiers. teachers, doctors, nurses, hair stylists, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and other professionals etc. You may be able to learn from and potentially work with them throughout the pageant process and beyond. Honestly, the opportunities are endless on what can be created through this process. Most importantly, come in ready to have some fun, let your voice be heard, and say YESSSS I DID THAT for ME!!
Winning is subjective in my opinion. There will be all types of winning that will happen. First thing that comes to mind is, OMG I competed in a pageant for the first time - yesssss; I competed in a pageant at the age 40 or 60 - age is just a number; I competed in pageant because I wanted to do something for ME - I did that. I hope you will remember that everyone's reason for competing is different. As you take your journey, it is important to be kind, empathetic, purposeful, and always remember your why. I am hopeful that will take you further than just saying I won, now what?
Be intentional in your journey, be it of pageantry or any other avenue in life. Do all that you do with a purpose and a goal to inspire someone else and maybe even learn something new about yourself. I don't want you to be intimidated but accept the challenge to try something new, try something that will challenge you and try something that could potentially help you reach bigger goals! We tend to be our own worst enemy, but when we get out of our own way and accept the things that we can't control, we can do AMAZING things.
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you'll ever know.” - A. A. Milne
Wishing you peace, love and light, Queens! Now let's get ready for this journey!!
